[High luminous efficacy long-life OLEDs without using rare metals by Yamagata University]

Professor Junji Kido and Associate Professor Hisahiro Sasabe of Yamagata University have succeeded in developing OLEDs with high luminous efficacy and long lifetimes without using rare metals. For green emitters, they have achieved 1.5 times the luminous efficiency and 4 times the lifetime. With this achievement, the performance of these emitters is comparable to that of commercial LEDs containing rare metals. With the establishment of the technology for other colors, inexpensive, energy saving OLEDs can be realized.
